BIMA, the only independent industry association dedicated to celebrating and supporting the use of creativity in digital technology, has announced plans for major changes to this year’s 25th annual BIMA awards. This will include the introduction of a refined set of categories, a more transparent judging process and a networking-focused awards ceremony.
Since the BIMA Awards were first introduced, they have evolved each year to reflect a constant shift within the interactive industry. As such, the categories will be clarified to ensure that entries represent the entire spectrum of the space from all angles.
As per last year, there will still be two rounds of judging – the latter in person – but clearer guidelines (specifically related to metrics) will make requirements far more transparent. All decisions must also be justifiable in 120 characters, which will be fed back to the entrants, encouraging responsible and impartial scoring. This year’s judging panel contains a great mix of BIMA members, external experts and the press.
During a tough economic climate, BIMA also wants to ensure that no one misses out on the opportunity to celebrate the fantastic work of those within their industry. As such, the awards evening will become a fun, networking evening rather than a sit down dinner. Ticket prices will be reasonable, but with a comedian, band and DJ lined up, it’s set to be one to remember!
