Carlsberg don't do fitness centres.....
These ladies entice three guys with the allure of white-clad fitness trainers...and beer
http://www.adrants.com/2008/04/carlsberg-elevates-...

Steve in AdRants talks about the quintessential beer commercial. This time it's from Carlsberg Lite. They entice three guys with the allure of white-clad fitness trainers...and beer. Created by Saatch & Saatchi Simko, the ad at least elevates the tactic a step or two above the Coors Twins or the famed mud wrestling beer babes of yore.

However as Steve says…Ooops. it's sorta been done before. Sorry guys.

The 200-year-old Norwich Union brand
Is time finally up for the Norwich Union name?
Seems like branding going a bit too far
http://business.scotsman.com/business/Changing-the...

The Norwich Union Clock

Mention the word "Aviva" and some people would be excused for thinking of buses or trains.

But the possible confusion with Arriva, the transport company, has not stopped Aviva, the international savings, investments and insurance group, from scrapping its 200-year-old Norwich Union brand in favour of the parent name.

What do you think? Is this branding going a bit too far?

Complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority
The most controversial ads of 2007

The

10 Most Controversial Ads - BBC

A BBC web article has written up a helpful summary of the 14,080 complaints made last year to the Advertising Standards Authority.

Sex and violence predictably dominated viewers concerns. ‘Greenwash’ is also an increasing irritation to the public.

Part of the skill of advertising is to catch the attention of the public by using striking images, poses and ideas. But how far can this go? How far should it go? The law stipulates in some cases (for instance, an advert for alcoholic drinks cannot go so far as to say that it will make you more attractive to the opposite sex).

What do you think? Send your comments to Will Corry.

Best of the new virals - Do you speak Facebook?
"30 people sitting in my Facebook territory who I don't know, never did know, and don't care to know"

Enjoy the viral....Do you speak Facebook? "This is why I have 30 people sitting in my Facebook territory who I don't know, never did know, and don't care to know."

We were checking, as usual one of our favourite websites, AdRANTs, and saw this video.  The comedy group called Idiots of Ants does a hysterical job of showing what life would be like if everyone acted as they do on Facebook.

Created to support the release of Rudebox by Robbie Williams this very funny short film tells the story of a small boy telling his parents he's off to America. It's also a trailer for the award winning short film Goodbye To The Normals (warning to the sensitive: contains a little bad language).
