Brighten up your miserable November day with Martini Moments

A beautiful new commercial/web film (with the right music) for Martini titled Martini Moments is filled with beautiful people enjoying what seems to be the perfect life.

Just in case anyone is wondering, a real Martini used to be made with vermouth and gin, now it seems to be vodka and olive juice. Either way this advert from Netherlands says it’s all the vermouth, Martini Vermouth. The song is ‘A night like this’ by Dutch singer Caro Emerald.

I’ve never really been big on vermouth, but this commercial has got me feeling a little adventurous and I might just have to give the Martini a pour or two.

Lessons from a recession
The recession has forced marketers to spend more wisely, measure more accurately and operate more efficiently

by Grant Keller, Managing Director – Europe, Acceleration

Grant Keller

Most businesses have probably felt the pinch of the recession this year, and chances are that if you’re a marketer this would have translated into a hacked marketing budget.

Obviously this isn’t ideal, but what it’s done is separated the men from the boys and forced marketers to spend more wisely, measure more accurately and operate more efficiently.

And during the course of it all there have been some interesting lessons for marketers to learn; of these, five stand out.

Fiona Bosman, Head of brand engagement, Nokia

From the high-octane glamour of Harvey Nichols to mobile operator T-Mobile, this year's top young marketers, none of whom is over 30, have each had a significant impact on their brands.

Take Fiona Bosman, 29, Head of brand engagement, Nokia as an example. A genuine marketing talent, Bosman started her career early, as a student brand manager for Red Bull in her native Cape Town.

Her dynamism made an impression, and she became a regional brand manager for the energy-drink brand before leading its global youth marketing programme in Austria. Bosman took on consultancy roles in the UK before taking responsibility for Nokia's music positioning. She views her current role as an opportunity to change how a big brand works.

Begin to enjoy life a little bit more
There must be more to life than wearing a black hooded cape and standing around on the hills looking enigmatic
http://www.newsbiscuit.com/2009/11/06/scottish-wid...

Now there is a general feeling that the lady in the adverts should perhaps come out of mourning and begin to enjoy life a little bit more

The attractive lady who has been dressed in black in the Scottish Widows adverts for the past couple of decades has been told to get over her husband’s death and move on.

It has been some time since Edinburgh based Scottish Widows widened their range of financial service beyond the very limited sector of providing for women from Scotland whose husbands had died. Now there is a general feeling that the lady in the adverts should perhaps come out of mourning and begin to enjoy life a little bit more.

Ever experience that moment at work when time seems to stop? You glance around the office? You notice every little detail? You marvel at the beauty of things? You are overwhelmed with feelings of goodness, righteousness and environmentally sound principles?

Worth showing co-workers ...probably NSFW

No. Neither have we which is why this is all encapsulated in a commercial instead of real life. Because in real life time never stops, there's nothing special to see in the office, details involve strange looking stains on the rug, no one is beautiful, you never ever feel anything but misery and most assuredly, no one's clothes are magically torn from their bodies...in slow motion. Here are the 10 biggest lies entrepreneurs tell themselves

Entrepreneurs by their very nature are typically optimists. You sort of have to be an optimist to start a new business, for obvious reasons.

Unfortunately, the odds are against you when creating a new company and there are many challenges that easily deter the cynical. For optimistic entrepreneurs, it's real easy to lie about the challenges and the state of a business.
