Launching today, new research conducted by independent creative agency Initials has found consumers are switching to challenger brands in their droves, with over two thirds of respondents saying being exposed to a multitude of marketing messages was making them less loyal to established brands.

The findings expose five harsh truths established brands must tackle in the face of the challenger brand phenomenon.

Hear ye, hear ye! Bud Light, one of the latest additions to AB InBev’s premium beer portfolio, announces the launch of a new, fully integrated marketing campaign that celebrates the brand’s light-hearted personality – all inspired by the latest phrase taking the US by storm.

 Originating in the US, the ‘Dilly Dilly’ campaign quickly became a pop culture phenomenon with everyone from sports fans to celebrities adopting the phrase as a new form of “cheers”, sparking a snowball effect.

Distractions and alcohol pose danger to young drivers: More 18-24-year-olds die on the roads

Research shows that worldwide, car crashes are the leading cause of death among young people, with a higher proportion of 18- to 24-year-olds dying on the roads than at any other time of year.

In Europe, 18- to 24-year-olds account for 8 per cent of the total population, but 15 per cent of all those killed in road accidents.  In the summertime, the problem gets worse as 18- to 24-year-olds account for 21 per cent of all deaths on the road in summer.

Risky behaviour has been identified as a key factor behind the statistics, which also show that from 2004 to 2013, 62,000 young people were killed in road accidents in the European Union. According to the report by European Road Safety Observatory, poor reading of the road, impairment from substances or stress and distraction are among the most common factors in accidents involving young drivers. Research : “Indications are that consumers are looking to reduce their alcohol intake” Claudia Strauss, Future Thinking

Guidelines issued by the Government on Friday 8th January 2016 state that men and women should consume no more than 14 units of alcohol per week. The guideline also state that people should have alcohol free days each week and avoid heavy drinking sessions.
The announcement reflects new medical advice highlighting links between alcohol and illnesses including, cancer and heart disease. The new 14 point limit is the point where there would appear to be an increased risk of dying from alcohol related issues.
