Macmillan sees registrations for free will service take off within a month of campaign launch

Macmillan Cancer Support’s campaign to encourage people to register for its free will-writing service has garnered strong results following a month of marketing to support the initiative.

The charity’s nationwide campaign has been backed by a new 60-second DRTV ad, along with radio and digital executions including Facebook videos, throughout September. The campaign was developed by WPNC.

WPN Chameleon (WPNC) has appointed former Oxfam Deputy Director of Fundraising Nick Pride to its senior team, adding to the agency’s strength in charity client strategy.

Pride @pride_nick becomes WPNC’s Fundraising Strategy Director. He spent 18 months at Oxfam on an interim basis, with a remit to sustain and develop the charity’s multiple revenue streams that total tens of millions of pounds annually.

Nearly a third of influencers regularly promote charities

Nearly one third of social media influencers regularly support charities on their channels, according to new research by influencer marketing platform Buzzoole, which has 200,000 influencers on its platform. Three quarters (74%) of influencers said that raising awareness of the causes they care about was a key priority for them; also important for influencers is sharing their own personal experiences (87%) and helping people (61%).

Buzzoole, which works to harness the power of long-tail influencers, surveyed its own network of influencers for the research. Of the 60 UK based respondents, a large majority (92%) have volunteered time to work for a charity, with almost a third (28%) doing so every month.

Launched in 2014 and produced by Rose Thorne, the ALL NUDE CABARET CHARITY CALENDAR brings the cabaret community together to raise money for cancer charities.

After the loss of both parents to cancer, Rose established the project with proceeds donated to our charities. None of the pin-ups or performers involved take a penny for their time and the photographer Sin Bozkurt also gives all his time for free. The only expenditure is the printing and posting of the calendars. [more…]

M&S promotes Shwopping, its clothes swapping scheme for Oxfam, with new online campaign

M&S has launched a new online campaign for Shwopping, its clothes swapping scheme to raise money for Oxfam, fronted by the organisation’s ambassador Joanna Lumley.

The initiative invites customers to leave their old and unwanted clothes by any brand at Marks & Spencer stores. These are then given to Oxfam to be resold online or in international markets. What is not sold or re-used is recycled.

The online campaign, created by RKCR/Y&R, consists of a series of stylishly animated films narrated by Joanna Lumley. The films show dozens of items of clothing morphing into good deeds while the Absolutely Fabulous star explains all the ways Shwopped items can help those in need.
