Consumers name Ford, Vauxhall, BMW and Audi is their most valued brands,according to DMA research

The DMA asked a panel of consumers their thoughts on the automotive brands they prefer, from manufacturers to dealers, from Audi to Volkswagen. A clear top 4 emerged with Ford, Vauxhall, BMW and Audi being named as the most loved auto brands.

Research shows that worldwide, car crashes are the leading cause of death among young people, with a higher proportion of 18- to 24-year-olds dying on the roads than at any other time of year.

In Europe, 18- to 24-year-olds account for 8 per cent of the total population, but 15 per cent of all those killed in road accidents.  In the summertime, the problem gets worse as 18- to 24-year-olds account for 21 per cent of all deaths on the road in summer. [more…]

London congestion busting idea wins D&AD award

An innovative concept to make it easier to navigate London on foot by marking the city’s underground rail routes at street level has been named the winner of the Ford-sponsored brief at the Design & Art Direction (D&AD) New Blood Awards.

The campaign concept called Streetlines was developed by student Jamie Quantrill of Falmouth University, UK, and is designed to help alleviate congestion on underground rail – or Tube – journeys by reminding commuters that distances between many stations are walkable.

Research : VW fails to make top 10 … Future Thinking

In early September the Environmental Protection Agency in the USA found that VW had been selling cars with software that concealed true emission rates when being tested. When tested emissions beat the lab limits, but when on the road with these emission controls switched off, cars would emit up to 40 times the legal levels of nitrogen oxide (NOx).
