With over a quarter of all ecommerce sites running on Magento, it’s hard to ignore how successful this platform is for online businesses. It’s not just the little guys either; a lot of the biggest brands out there use Magento, such as Magento… the list goes on and on.

But why is it so popular, given that there are so many different platforms to choose from? The quick answer is that it’s because Magento is the most specialised yet versatile platform for eCommerce websites. The long answer is a laundry list of different reasons it out performs other ecommerce platforms.

Mobile is changing the way we shop: six ways retailers can respond

We check them on the move, we surf them from the sofa, and have them constantly close to hand whether we’re at home or work. No surprise, then, that many of us are also using our smartphones and tablet computers to shop.

A third (32 per cent) of all online sales were made over mobile devices between November 2013 and January 2014, according to the Q4 IMRG Capgemini Quarterly Benchmarking Study*. The figure looks likely to rise. So how can retailers respond to the mobile revolution?

Ian Jindal, editor-in-chief of Internet Retailing, has some suggestions.
