VCCP Media has bought adconnection in a deal that will treble its annual billings to £50 million

Catherine Becker, current CEO of adconnection becomes CEO of VCCP Media and Nick Baum, MD.  Paul Mead will be the Chairman.

Adrian Coleman, one of the founders of the ad agency VCCP, describes it as "reintegration". Others call it the return of "full service". But the thinking behind this week’s acquisition by VCCP of Adconnection, to create a top 20 UK media agency, is clear.

VCCP wants to reunite media buying with creative and all other disciplines, such as public relations, content creation and sports marketing, under one roof

The Metro wins Innovations Challenge Award

A shortlist of ten media owners last week pitched their most innovative media ideas to a panel of judges for adconnection’s fourth annual Innovations Challenge.

There was a strong mix of traditional and modern media owners taking part including The Guardian, Metro, Adform, Acast, Visual Voice, Exterion Media, RadioWorks, JCDecaux, AdMaxim and Time.Inc.

Positec, the holding company for Worx power tools, has appointed adconnection to its £2m media planning and buying account.

Positec is an ambitious longstanding company focussed on building strong brands globally to the highest manufacturing levels.  Worx produces a range of innovative and award winning, high quality power tools for home and garden including the Jaw-Saw (Safe chainsaw), Tri-Vac (Garden Leaf blower and vacuum) and the Landroid (robotic garden mower).  They also have huge green credentials with zero emission products.

John Firth of IPC Media wins adconnection ‘Innovations Challenge’

Adconnection have announced the winner of their second annual ‘Innovations Challenge’ as John Firth from IPC Media Innovator.

Adconnection challenged a shortlist of nine media owners to present a five minute innovative media idea at their ‘Innovations Challenge’ which took place last week at their London head office. Each media owner was scored based on the quality of the idea and how it was presented.

The winning idea, VIP Live (Video in Print), is a technology which allows IPC Media to build a HD video screen into a bound insert into a magazine. VIP Live harnesses the power of the internet, mobile technology and the printed word and offers a refreshing answer to some of the multimedia challenges in today’s market. adconnection, the independent media agency based in London, has welcomed Cathy McPherson as director. With over 28 years’ experience in the media world, McPherson founded All Response Media in 1995.

Formerly working as an independent consultant, McPherson has recently been instrumental in refreshing the adconnection brand. She’s helped to evolve its positioning to centre on ‘connected thinking and results’, uniquely combining intelligent and creative planning skills and techniques with data analytical, response and insight skills to deliver stronger brand engagement and sales.

McPherson’s appointment comes at a time when adconnection is growing and evolving around the huge changes in the media landscape. Developments include strengthening the online and data teams, following the recent appointment of Simon White from Rapp, and addressing the increasing need for device planning across different screens and the more sophisticated engagement planning across social and mobile growth.
