Research : Sky overtakes P&G as biggest traditional ad spender … Nielsen

Sky overtook Procter & Gamble as the biggest spender on traditional advertising in the UK in 2017, increasing year-on-year spend by 2.7% to £197.1m, reveals Nielsen data released today.

P&G’s spend dropped 1.4% versus 2016 to £196.8m, as did BT’s who retained third place despite a fall of 3.8% to £144.1m. Nielsen’s figures include the seven major traditional media formats but exclude internet advertising. [more…]

The Marketing Society awards nine new fellowships.

Last week at the top of the Gherkin, London, The Marketing Society honoured nine of its members with Fellowship of The Society - an accolade awarded to only 5% of its membership.

Marketers from brands including Facebook, McLaren and IBM were honoured for their bold and inspiring marketing leadership along with three honorary fellowships including Roisin Donnelly, David Pearson and Dave Trott in recognition of their outstanding contribution to business.

New capital helps put international expansion plans into action

Meetrics has successfully completed its third round of funding. Two well-known experts in the ad-tech industry, Thomas Falk (eValue) and Ronald Paul (Muzungu Capital), are the newest members to join the company's partners. Alongside the newcomers, two long-standing investors, VC Fonds Technologie Berlin (operated by IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft) and yabeo Capital are also involved in this investment round.

Meetrics now has new capital that amounts in total to a seven-figure sum that will primarily be used for further European expansion. [more…]

MediaCom enters global emotion measurement partnership with Realeyes

The rise of measuring facial expressions/emotions to improve advertising is getting hotter. Following Apple's purchase of Emotient, here's the news that MediaCom is partnering globally with Realeyes to use emotion measurement tech to improve the quality and placement of its clients' video ads.

This is the first partnership of its kind for a media agency. MediaCom will look to apply this across its client roster including brands such as P&G, Coca Cola, GSK, Shell, SONY Mobile and VW.
