Job cuts : WPP is to axe 3,500 jobs

Job cuts ... WPP shares surged after it unveiled steep job cuts, adding nearly £7million to the fortune of ousted founder Sir Martin Sorrell.

The marketing conglomerate is to axe 3,500 jobs and shut or merge almost 200 offices in a battle to cut costs.

Britain’s favourite logo is Coca-Cola’s, according to a new poll. The iconic red and white symbol was first revealed in the late 1800s and has remained largely unchanged ever since.

It’s so popular the logo can commonly be found on fashionable clothing items, homeware and other desirables - while vintage items featuring the logo can sell for thousands of pounds. Second spot was secured by US fast-food chain, McDonald’s - ahead of Disney’s Mickey Mouse silhouette logo in third and Cadbury’s logo in fourth.

Corporate Blunders : Volkswagen’s UK sales fall amid scandal / US says Volkswagen cheated

Sales of Volkswagen brands including VW, Seat, and Skoda all fell last month in the UK amid the carmaker's emissions scandal. The motor group has been embroiled in controversy over the level of emissions from its diesel and petrol cars.

Sales of VW branded cars fell 9.8%, Skoda dropped 3% and Seat sales sank 32.2%. However, sales of Audi, Porsche and Bentley cars all rose. Overall, UK car sales in October fell by 1.1%, the industry body said.

The VW brand sold 13,970 cars in October

Over a third (37%) of British consumers online are willing to take advantage of the growing phenomenon of the “sharing economy” in which people use specialist websites to rent out assets they own – according to a new study by Nielsen @Nielsen , a leading global provider of information and insights into what consumers watch and buy.The sharing economy has not been without controversy, however. Uber has run into problems in the UK – sparking a protest by London black cab drivers this week – with its claim that it isn't a taxi firm, but a "ride sharing" company, doing little more than connecting drivers with passengers

The latest mobile gaming app for Volkswagen Group just passed 1 million downloads in 10 weeks. With no other promotion, in the last 10 weeks the racing experience mobile app “Sports Car Challenge 2” has so far delivered:

- 5 million virtual test drives

- 1 million visits to Volkswagen brand websites

- over 25,000 dealership enquires, including dealer visits and real world test drives
