Fun with packaging

Miranda and Roland Ballard started Muddy Boots Real Foods Ltd in December 2008 and in 2012 they wrote a biog in the 3rd person.

They left behind their London media careers (Miranda was Sir David Frost’s PA for five years and Roland worked for Working Title Films) to return to their home county of Worcestershire to launch their own food company. They wanted to prove that a brand of beef burgers could promote top quality, ethically farmed, British beef as well as taste delicious and challenge some of the stigmas attached to burgers. They had stalls at over 350 farmers’ markets and food shows in their first year to learn their trade and find that the demand was there.

They got a lucky break to appear in a BBC One television series in May 2010 called ‘High Street Dreams’, which saw retail and business mentors help to improve Muddy Boots and prepare Roland and Miranda to pitch to their dream retailer, Waitrose. Waitrose launched their burgers in a handful of stores in their home region after that and they have now had their listings increased to all over the country. They also supply Ocado and Budgens, as well as some independent retailers.

Roland and Miranda launched Muddy Boots Meatloaf in Autumn 2012 with all three retail contracts and are now working on their first book and next two product launches.
