Is this US commercial on a par with our UK commercials? What do you think?

Inspirational commercial – this kid has some oats from mom and makes it all the way to top of Mt. Everest

After searching the recent commercials from the good old USA I came to the conclusion that our home grown efforts are much, much better. However there are exceptions and I think this one is on a par, at least with our UK commercials.

Check it out for yourself. It’s all about .. After eating a bowl of Quaker Apples and Cinnamon oatmeal, a boy goes on an adventure. He destines to use his imagination and rides his bicycle to the top of a mountain. Nothing gets you going like the power of Quaker oats.

  1. I think that UK ads were generally better when I first moved from ITV in London to work in New York 12 years ago. That’s not the case now. There’s a lot of clever creative here and whenever I watch TV in the UK now, I’m often struck at the silliness of the ads and low production values – many look as though they are made on a shoestring. Anyway, it’s not that surprising that US ads are so good – look at the number of British advertising ex-pats running agencies here!
