CORNISH CLOTTED CREAM MAKERS GO HEAD TO HEAD

Two of Cornwall’s biggest clotted cream producers are arguing over an application to amend the EU specification of Cornish Clotted Cream.
Cornish Clotted Cream, made from Cornish milk with a golden crust on top and won EU Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status in 1998.
Producer Trewithen Dairy has now applied to Defra to amend the specification to recognise that Cornish Clotted Cream may be supplied as a bulk ingredient to food manufacturers without the crust on top, and instead dispersed throughout the product.(more…)

VIRGIN WINES CELEBRATES MOST SUCCESSFUL CHRISTMAS TO DATE
Virgin Wines, the UK wine retailer, has enjoyed a hugely successful Christmas period, with year on year sales for the month of December up by 15 per cent.
Throughout December, Virgin Wines received orders from over 40,000 new customers, the highest number ever achieved by the company in one month.
Furthermore, Virgin Wines sent over 120,000 cases of wines to its customers during December, and also welcomed a record 850,000 unique visitors to its website. (more…)

HEINZ SALAD CREAM BRINGS BACK ‘60% LESS FAT’ LABELS FOR THE NEW YEAR
Heinz Salad Cream is bringing back its limited edition ‘60% less fat’ labels, to remind health conscious consumers that the sauce is at least 60% less fat than mayonnaise.
Available on shelves in January, to kick off the traditional diet season the labels aim to reinforce that Heinz Salad Cream contains at least 60% less fat than the leading standard mayonnaise.
The ‘60% less fat’ labels have proven successful in previous years driving a +5% base sales uplift in sauce sales, proving that shoppers are buying into these types of messages on label. (more…)

SHARWOOD’S UNVEILS CHINESE NEW YEAR CAMPAIGN
Sharwood’s is launching a new campaign in January to coincide with Chinese New Year, educating customers on how easy it is to make Chinese food using Sharwood’s quick and familiar cooking process.
Chinese remains a firm favourite among Brits, featuring within the top 20 savoury meal choices, but there is a common misconception that it is a challenging and timely cuisine to cook at home.
