A new report commissioned by advertising platform Bannerflow has revealed a vast sum of European companies are bringing their digital advertising operations in house, creating a shift from the agency focused attitudes prominent over the last decade.

Working in conjunction with @Digiday, Bannerflow surveyed 200 senior marketing decision makers from brands, in-housing agencies and consultancies in Europe.

The survey aimed to discover the biggest triggers, benefits and barriers to in-housing marketing teams.You can download the entire report here –

Big brands suspend, limit digital advertising in U.K.

Jaguar Land Rover, Thomson Reuters and others have reacted to a report that ads have appeared on hate sites and next to YouTube videos from supporters of terrorist and extremist groups.

Big-name advertisers, including car maker Jaguar Land Rover and media and information firm Thomson Reuters, have suspended or limited their U.K. digital advertising spending following a recent newspaper report saying that their ads have appeared on hate sites and next to videos from supporters of Islamic terrorists and other extremist groups.

Advertisers spent a record £3.98 billion on digital advertising in the first half of 2015

Here's the latest IAB/PwC report on internet adspend in the first half of 2015:

  • Display ad spend grows at twice the rate of overall digital spend - the latter touching £4bn, with 80% of the rise accounted for by mobile
  • "Mobile is unquestionably the engine of digital growth, with mobile display spend up 63% on the back of mobile video spend more than doubling. However, there’s plenty of room to grow, as mobile accounts for 40% of internet time but only 27% of ad spend."

eMarketer: Mobile Ad Spending to Top $100 Billion Worldwide in 2016

The worldwide mobile advertising market will hit two significant milestones in 2016, according to new figures from eMarketer, surpassing $100 billion and accounting for more than 50% of all digital ads for the first time.

The $101.37 billion to be spent on ads served to mobile phones and tablets worldwide next year represents a more than 400% increase from 2013. Between 2016 and 2019, the last year in our forecast, mobile ads will nearly double again, totaling $195.55 billion. That figure will account for 70.1% of all digital advertising as well as more than one-quarter of total media ad spending worldwide.

To coincide with today’s JICWEBS “town hall” for the UK digital advertising industry, JICWEBS is publishing a report revealing the progress that's been made in minimising the risk of advertising misplacement, thus improving brand safety online, since the launch of the Digital Trading Standards Group (DTSG) Good Practice Principles just over one year ago.

JICWEBS – the UK’s Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards – is the industry body that defines and facilitates good practice and standards for digital ad trading, particularly around Brand Safety, Ad Viewability and Anti-Fraud.
