A survey conducted at the end of 2013 by industry social media expert @DigitalBlonde on behalf of @MarsFS_UK and the Craft Guild of Chefs found that while many chefs (92.5%) are social media savvy 65.5% would like additional training.

And an overwhelming 90.1% of chefs agreed that social media was a great way to increase footfall to their establishment, with 87.9% also citing it as extremely useful in recruiting – but many are still yet to join in the conversation.

First brand safety kitemarks issued in UK to reduce online ad misplacement

The first kitemarks for brand safety online have been awarded today to 9 companies that meet industry-agreed standards to reduce the risk of ads being served next to inappropriate or illegal content online.

The kitemarks have been awarded by the UK’s Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards (JICWEBS) – the independent body that defines best practice and standards for online ad trading.

The companies receiving the kitemark have all had their advertising misplacement policies and processes reviewed by an independent third party. Alongside the 9* kitemarks issued today a further 7** organisations have committed to undergo independent verification within 6 months.

Morrisons : The price of 1,200 everyday food essentials slashed in price war

Morrisons is slashing the price of 1,200 everyday food essentials by up to 60 per cent, triggering a bloody price war that will force rivals to follow suit. The move by Britain’s fourth biggest supermarket is part of a £1billion plan to permanently reduce prices in a bid to see off the threat posed by budget rivals Aldi and Lidl.

However, the price re-set will also drag the other members of the grocery big four – Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s – into the fray.

Exponential to be headline sponsor of IAB Engage 10th anniversary

Events : Exponential Interactive @exponentialinc is to be the headline sponsor of the Internet Advertising Bureau UK’s flagship annual event, IAB Engage.This year’s event marks the tenth anniversary of Engage, which launched in 2005 with a stellar cast of speakers including Bill Gates and Lord Puttnam.

It garnered nationwide coverage as Gates pronounced that ‘the future of advertising is the internet’. Last year’s event attracted more than 800 advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies.

It is widely accepted that technology has the power to transform lives, which for the biggest minority group in the world – those with disabilities – means a potential transformation that is profound and positive. However the new study BT and AbilityNet have conducted[1] shows that nearly three quarters of Brits believe that not all members of society are benefitting from computers and the internet.

We’ve found that while almost everyone agrees you can’t have a normal life without access to digital services, one in two believe disabled audiences are overlooked by many technology companies and developers @Tech4GoodAwards , and that the latest gadgets and devices are built with a mainstream and much younger audience in mind.
