Research : Sky overtakes P&G as biggest traditional ad spender … Nielsen

Sky overtook Procter & Gamble as the biggest spender on traditional advertising in the UK in 2017, increasing year-on-year spend by 2.7% to £197.1m, reveals Nielsen data released today.

P&G’s spend dropped 1.4% versus 2016 to £196.8m, as did BT’s who retained third place despite a fall of 3.8% to £144.1m. Nielsen’s figures include the seven major traditional media formats but exclude internet advertising. [more…]

IAB UK research from more than 1200 UK online adults reveals that ‘fit for purpose’ ads significantly increase brand metrics for advertisers

The IAB UK today released a study that looked at the best ways to advertise to people on smartphones and revealed that fit for purpose ads – those optimised for smartphones – can shift brand metrics and can increase positive perceptions such as the brand being viewed as more premium and more trusted.  [more…]

Under Ed Miliband, the Labour Party’s private polling – particularly surveys that reflected poorly on the leader – was restricted to a small circle of intimates who worried about it intensely in private and dismissed it in public.

Under Jeremy Corbyn, the distrust of polling is sincere.
