Brand safety is considerably more complex than the industry thinks

The relationship a reader has with a publisher has far more impact on the effectiveness of online ads than the surrounding editorial content, which suggests concerns around brand safety may be misunderstood, according to a new study. 
 
The study – by Inskin Media, Research Now and Conquest Research – compared the conscious and subconscious reactions of 4,370 people, who were served ads on websites either with or without publisher branding. It revealed that ads on the publisher-branded sites increased consideration for the advertiser by 60% compared to the ads on the site without publisher branding. [more…]

New Research : UK firms freeze marketing spend

British companies froze their marketing budgets during the third quarter amid rising uncertainties about the economy as the UK looks to exit the European Union, a survey showed last Wednesday.

The IPA Bellwether report showed that near 70 percent of its survey panel recorded no change in marketing budget since the second quarter. Rising inflation - driven largely by the pound's fall since last year's vote to leave the European Union - has squeezed household incomes, causing broader economic growth to slow.

Apple, Google and Android are Most Relevant Brands to UK Consumers According to the New Prophet Brand Relevance Index®

Global consultancy Prophet today announced the results of the third annual Brand Relevance Index ®, a ranking of the most relevant brands in consumers’ lives today.

Apple and Google maintained their standings as the top two most relevant brands in the UK for the second year. New entrants in the top ten: Android, Dyson and Lush, squeezed out John Lewis, Disney and WhatsApp.
