Brits start early in the morning to bag Boxing Day bargains on their mobiles

With Christmas less than a month away, Bing Ads today releases findings from its ‘UK Retail Insights Report’ illustrating consumer search behaviour across devices over the Christmas period on the Bing Ads Network.

Based on research from 33 per cent of internet retail users who used Bing in 2014[1], to project ahead for this year’s festive season, mobile search enquiries are expected to increase up to five times on Christmas and Boxing Day – a period that saw a 184 per cent rise in retail queries across platform last year.

Dom Joly takes to the streets for second phase of Bing It On campaign

Launch of three social media videos supported with paid social media spend

Microsoft today announces the launch of the second phase of its ‘Bing it On’ campaign, which challenges consumers to directly compare Bing’s search results with Google’s.

Launching today are three promotional videos, featuring celebrity comedy actor, Dom Joly, from the hidden camera/practical joke reality television series, ‘Trigger Happy’. Promoted with digital and social media, the videos feature real-life comical sketches around three emerging social media ‘habits’ that Brits have: ‘selfies[1]’, ‘phubbing[2]’ and ‘oversharing[3]’.

These trends have grown ever more prominent over the last year, highlighted by the announcement last week that ‘selfie’ is the Oxford Dictionary’s ‘word of the year’ 2013.

Now you can have a daily round-up of the best news stories called ‘Daily Bing’

The Independent has joined a growing list of news outlets now available on Microsoft’s UK Bing News App for Windows 8.

The app will now feature content from seven publishers, including the Guardian, The Times, Sky News and Reuters.

Users of the new app will have access to the whole of the featured newspapers with no need to download content, while e editors will produce a daily round-up of the best content called ‘Daily Bing’.
