Last week Braintree, a PayPal company, brought its #AcceptAnything Food Truck to dev. and start up hot-spots in East London. Since Braintree lets you accept anything: credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, bitcoin, and whatever’s next, they wanted to ask the question: ‘what if we literally accepted anything?’

So the team created the Braintree “Accept Anything” Food Truck: the first food truck that lets customers decide how to pay.

Showrooming is rife in the UK for ‘considered’ purchases – 42% of us look at electronic goods in-store before buying online

Here are the latest UK findings from Microsoft’s Consumer Decision Journey research, announced today at Ad Week in the US. Key stats are:

  • Showrooming is rife in the UK for ‘considered’ purchases – 42% of us look at electronic goods in-store before buying online from a different retailer, compared to 27% in US. 36% look in-store before buying online from the same retailer
  • Brits are much more decisive in their shopping journey – when shopping for electronics, 77% visit only the area they originally set out to look at, compared to 59% in US. In the US, 14% browse the whole store before buying, compared to 6% in the UK
  • In the UK we’re also much less impulsive in-store – 81% buy only the electronic item they went in for and nothing else, compared to 57% in US (where 34% buy other electronics after buying what they actually wanted in the first place)

B2B gift card and voucher sales in 2011 exceeded B2C for the first time since records began, according to the latest statistics from The UK Gift Card & Voucher Association (UKGCVA), the trade body representing the key players in the £4 billion gift voucher, cards and stored value solutions market.
