Leading word-of-mouth agency 1000heads, has launched a brand new social video campaign on behalf of Carphone Warehouse to celebrate the launch of the Huawei P9 phone. The aim of the latest campaign is to bring to life the Huawei P9’s camera abilities.

The campaign is built around three videos, developed and produced by 1000heads. The three, tongue-in-cheek, videos portray parodies of three very eccentric characters - a hipster, a foodie and a photographer – all getting carried away with their photography skills, whilst using the P9.

Oops : A slightly baffling justification for Dixons merger with Carphone Warehouse

On Today Sebastian James, chief executive of Dixons gives a slightly baffling justification for his company's merger with Carphone Warehouse.
Dixons sells internet devices and Carphone Warehouse connects them, he says.
The telephone is the remote control of our lives, he adds. People want to operate devices like home audio and heating when they are not at home, with their phones. In the next sentence he says there will not be store closures because we do "very different things".


Movers and Groovers : Senior online executive walks out on Morrisons

George Dymond, who joined Morrisons at the beginning of the month and was expected to lead its new online grocery service, has unexpectedly resigned.

Operations director Dymond was hired last autumn from Coles supermarkets in Australia, where he was group general manager of merchandise. Prior to that he was trading director at Carphone Warehouse.

The Financial Times reports that the resignation centres on a disagreement on the nature of the role, and that Morrisons had been in talks with Dymond about an alternative position.  Read On


Carphone Warehouse is selling a 7-inch tablet computer … costing just £49

In the race to the bottom for budget-priced tablet computers, the Carphone Warehouse has just undercut the competition announcing that they will be selling a 7-inch device costing just £49.

This undercuts the previous holder of the low-priced crown Argos, whose MyTablet device was released this month for £99, itself undercutting Tesco's Hudl, priced at £119. [more…]

Kate Moss designs ‘Fashion Tech’ phone accessories

British supermodel Kate Moss has unveiled a line of phone accessories, including phone covers and tablet cases. The 39-year-old style guru designed the “fashion tech” collection exclusively for Carphone Warehouse. .

The new line is inspired from the fashion icon’s own style and all come in her favourite colour – black!.
