eBay.co.uk have announced the launch of its 2016 Christmas campaign – delivering the ultimate shop for the festive season.

The integrated campaign is led by a national television advertisement launching this weekend. Together with the vision of director Nick Gordon (whose credits include ads for MoneySupermarket and John Smith's), the ad offers a fly on the wall perspective of a familiar disco scene – with scenarios brought right up to date for the UK in 2016.

Bank holiday weekend set to trigger early Christmas spend, predicts eBay

eBay Advertising predicts that the August Bank Holiday weekend will fire the pistol for early Christmas shopping, according to new shopper insights released today.

The publisher has revealed that shoppers made almost half a million searches for ‘Christmas’ on eBay.co.uk during August last year, up 70% from the previous month. And with shoppers turning their attention to the festive period, searches for ‘Christmas tree’ shot up by 300% in the month, compared to July 2015.

As we approach the Bank Holiday weekend, eBay Advertising is reminding brands and marketers once again that it’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas.

  • As per normal I added the items to my basket and then made a single checkout payment (using the balance in my PayPal account) and expected the sellers to be paid and the items on eBay marked as paid.

Research : Consumer electronics shopping to ‘kick off’ next week, says eBay

eBay expects football-related shopping to ramp up from next week as the UK gets ready to enjoy a summer of sport, according to new insights released today.

eBay Advertising’s data reveals that, ahead of the last World Cup, searches for ‘flat screen TV’, ‘sound bar’ and ‘projector’ all spiked on eBay.co.uk at a total of almost 5,000 on 26th May, as shoppers primed their homes for optimum viewing. A similar uplift is expected this year as the nation gets ready to cheer the UK and Ireland on in a range of sports. [more…]

eBay Advertising today announced the launch of a new product to help advertisers cash in on the couch commerce opportunity on ebay.co.uk, following a successful pilot campaign with The Co-operative Electrical.

The product – known as ‘eBay TV Targeting’ – is based on observed insights on eBay’s 19 million monthly unique users in the UK. It will use anonymous search data to identify and target when shoppers are likely to be “dual-screening” – shopping while watching TV - on ebay.co.uk.

On Thursday, a small group of MPs discussed the issue of overseas sellers selling on online marketplaces and not paying VAT so they gain a competitive advantage over compliant sellers on marketplaces like eBay and Amazon.

New data released by eBay Advertising today suggests brands could be failing to capitalise on the UK’s final hour festive shopping frenzy. The publisher has revealed that the final day and hours before Christmas Day is prime “present panic” time for consumers, with daily searches on eBay.co.uk rising by 50% overnight between 23rd and 24th December last year.
