83% of UK consumers believe that their digital identity has financial value to brands which organisations ought to recognise if they wish to use it / Callcredit

A survey of 3,000 UK-based consumers has revealed a distinct group of younger consumer within which almost two thirds (63%) see sharing their personal data as an opportunity to have a more personalised experience rather than as a risk to the security of their personal identity.

Furthermore, 83% believe their data has a financial value which organisations ought to recognise if they wish to use it.

Research : Sharing economy – do consumers trust it?

Almost half of people (47%) in the UK believe that sharing economy schemes benefit consumers, but 39% feel these aren’t as trustworthy as traditional outlets.

This is according to new research from global online reviews community Trustpilot which looks into consumer trust in the sharing economy.

The survey also finds that over a quarter (29%) of people have previously avoided using a sharing economy platform because of a lack of clarity on who would hold responsibility when something goes wrong. [more…]

Bristol : Approximately 9% of the city’s budget will be lost, adding to the £56m spending reduction that has already been made

The Mayor of Bristol, George Ferguson, announced a £35m spending cut in his budget proposals on Monday.

Approximately 330 jobs will go as a result of the cuts, and the Mayor said most of these losses will be felt in administrative roles, while 100 will be compulsory redundancies. Mr Ferguson pre-empted reactions at the beginning of his budget proposals, by saying he knew, “like the rest of the world”, that public cuts would be necessary during his time as Mayor.
