Celebrate Christmas in real 2016 style with some Brexit crackers

McGarryBowen has created a set of Brexit-themed crackers for the Guardian, aimed at putting a lighthearted, satirical spin on the Christmas tradition.

The crackers contain cheeky prizes themed around the key issues of the referendum debate - for example, toys inside include a yo-yoing pound and a toy Brexit bus, where you can play with promises to fund the NHS. The crackers also feature a miniature EU jigsaw, where you can piece together a map of the European Union and try and make the UK fit and there’s even a tiny, miniature book of Brexit plans, containing Britain’s entire exit strategy, though you might struggle to read it.

Angela Merkel is the most powerful figure in Britain’s Brexit future

A panel of experts placed the German Chancellor as being more powerful that Britain’s own PM Theresa May, who came second in the ‘Brexit Power 100’ –  a ranking of the 100 most influential characters in the Brexit debate.

The list was compiled by The New European – the pop-up newspaper giving voice to the 48%, publishing its 21st issue today.

The top three most influential figures are all women – Merkel, May and Sturgeon. Other notable inclusions are Tony Blair (number 16) who today claimed Britain could still remain in the EU and Gary Lineker (number 28) whose massive social media following mobilised against attacks from mainstream right wing press after he articulated strong remain sympathies.
