The regularity of our reporting on social media at B2B website Hospitality & Catering News might lead some to think we are receiving large quantities of champagne from them, sadly not the case. We monitor a number of social sites and this is one we find to be particularly ‘engaging’.
We took a peek this morning on our trawl through some of our favourite’s and found this, but how can one bottle of champagne garner such a response, and a very engaged response too for that matter?

The adoption of social media as a marketing channel by restaurants emphasises the gap between the masters of the art and the dabblers or those that ignore it, at their peril. The gap is wide and those that need it least, being already very successful, seem to be the best practitioners.
Twitter accounts we particularly enjoy following include Michel Roux Jr, Raymond Blanc and Cyrus Todiwala. All inject their unique personalities into their tweets and this makes for an enjoyable and engaging experience for their followers. None need to do this to fill their restaurants or build their profiles, they choose to embrace a communication channel that their customers and target audience relish using engage with them there.

Readers' Choice, we just love the way Hospitality & Catering News takes the time that their reader's spend reading articles through Google Analytics to set their Top 15 product pages in 2014.
Pages views would have been much simpler and quicker, but by also applying time spent on page a far more valuable metric is applied. The qualitative nature of the measurement shows what people are really spending their time reading, so well done H&C News and all their advertiser's that make the cut. [more…]
