ICC Wales confirms H&C EXPO as its inaugural event in 2019

The International Convention Centre Wales at the Celtic Manor Resort has confirmed the first ever event to take place at the new venue, two years ahead of its opening in 2019. Celtic Manor will play host to the Hospitality & Catering EXPO in July 2018 and 2019, the latter marking the inauguration of ICC Wales.

H&C EXPO will be a new two-day conference and exhibition bringing industry professionals and suppliers together from all over the UK. The show will provide exhibitions stands, masterclasses, product demonstrations and roundtables as well as an innovative hosted buyer programme. [more…]

Hitwise reveals 60% of travel searches begin on mobile

Research released by Hitwise, a division of Connexity, reveals how important mobile devices are for travellers during the early planning stages of a trip. Research based on the online activity of 3 million UK shoppers, and 1 million mobile devices, reveals 60 per cent of all travel site searches originate from a mobile device.

The Hitwise research found that Brits are increasingly turning to their mobiles to kick off holiday plans, with 83 per cent of searches for the ‘best time’ to visit a holiday location initiated on a mobile device.

Logistical arrangements are also mobile-lead with 68 per cent of searches for ‘flights from’ and 83 per cent of searches for ‘flight status’ also made via a mobile device.Once a trip has begun, mobile is also the device of choice for travellers, with 86 per cent of searches for ‘places to eat’ and 76 per cent of searches for ‘things to do’ made on the go. Searches for ‘near me’ dominate, generated by 88 per cent of mobile searches.

Reevoo, the social commerce solutions provider, and Octopus.com, the innovative online hotel reservations company, today announced a strategic partnership agreement enabling Octopus.com to enhance the service to their customers by providing holidaymakers in eighteen countries across Europe, Asia and the Americas with access to independent, verified hotel reviews in nine languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese,  Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, and Russian.

The partnership allows Octopus.com to bolster international online strategy across its 44 websites by incorporating ratings, reviews and other social commerce tools from Reevoo.
