The London Mint Office launches Waterloo Memorial PR campaign

The London Mint Office has launched a PR campaign based around the creation of a new landmark memorial at Waterloo Station to reflect its status as a leading expert in producing commemorative coins and medals in the UK. Working as a partner with charity Waterloo 200 it has created the UK’s first War Memorial to honour the ordinary soldiers of the Anglo-Allied and Prussian soldiers who died at the Battle of Waterloo.

FIFA has been thrown into chaos after the arrest of officials over claims of corruption in football. But former Visa global sponsorship head Andrew Woodward argues while change is needed sponsors would be mad to dump the organisation now.

Around the world today, PR folks in places like San Francisco, Seoul , Chicago, Nuremberg, St Louis and Atlanta are fielding calls from breathless journalists asking if they will continue their sponsorship of the FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, marketing is on the phone as social media is turning over at pace as people say things like “I am going to boycott your product unless you dump FIFA”.

Commercial awareness trumps writing ability for marketers hiring brand journalists, reveals NewsCred report

  • Just 12% of both brand journalists and marketers surveyed in NewsCred’s ‘Rise of the UK Brand Journalist’ report say writing is the most important skill a brand journalist should have
  • Finding journalists with strong commercial awareness and understanding of the brand is the most difficult part of recruiting brand journalists
  • But 42% of marketers surveyed say they will put more into hiring brand journalists in the next year
