Marks and Spencer has been slammed by some members of the LGBT community for releasing a "gay sandwich" packaged inside a rainbow-coloured box.

The supermarket released a twist on the classic BLT snack, adding in guacamole to help spell out the acronym LGBT - Lettuce, Guacomole, Bacon and TomatoPriced at £3, the "special limited-edition" LGBTQ+ sarnie has been launched to celebrate Pride 2019.

Retail : Golden Square shopping centre has appointed JAMpr on a three-year contract

Golden Square shopping centre, @GoldenSquareUK Warrington’s premier retail destination, has appointed JAMpr as its retained PR agency @JAM_Manchester to drive positive awareness of the centre’s fashion and dining offering, along with its family-focused events.

JAMpr secured the three-year contract following a three-way pitch and will kick off activity with the launch of GS Collection, a campaign promoting the centre’s wealth of fashion outlets.

Key findings:

  • Overall sales were down 1.8%
  • Food business reports like-for-like sales from stores open more than a year up 0.3%
  • Sales from mobile devices were up over 90%
  • Christmas Food to Order was up 5%
  • Multi-channel sales +10.8%

Marks and Spencer releases Christmas sales figures early after leak

Marks and Spencer has reported a drop in sales, after releasing its Christmas trading statement early following a leak. Like-for-like UK sales, which exclude new store openings, in the 13 weeks to 29 December fell 1.8% on the same period a year earlier.

On a like-for-like basis, food sales rose 0.3% but sales of general merchandise dropped 3.8%.
