We all knew the day was coming. For quite some time now, Google has been discussing how influential mobile search has become.
First came the revelation back in 2015 that mobile search volume was greater than desktop. The elder-statesmen (desktop) was dethroned, and Google was not just going to sit idly by.
Not too long afterwards came the announcement of a new mobile-first index. The official release was never given a specific date, merely referred to as the beginning of experiments that will eventually lead to a new index.

According to research released today by digital media agency, equimedia, 91% of the brand websites handpicked by Mums have poor mobile website speeds.
The digital media specialists looked at mobile website download speeds based on Babycentre’s Welcome To Mums 2017 list of recommended baby products, and discovered that only two of the top listed brands achieved a ‘good’ rating when it came to mobile download speeds.
UK consumers are going to be Christmas gift shopping harder than ever before on their smartphones this Christmas, according to new research by digital analytics company Catchpoint.
A majority (47%) of all respondents of all ages say they use their smartphone to shop and nearly a third of all British shoppers (29%) say they will do more online shopping on their smartphone this Christmas.
However, Millennials (aged 20-30) are much more likely than older shoppers to use their smartphones to shop with 46% of younger shoppers compared to only 12% of older shoppers aged over 50 years, saying they’ll do more gift shopping on their mobiles than last year. [more…]
