Max Shanly, the top Momentum fixer who was made famous by Dispatches, said yesterday that he hoped Steven Woolfe didn’t recover from his injuries.

Shanly wrote the above post on a private group of young Labour members, calling Woolfe a “fascist” and blasting others for sending him messages of goodwill. Shanly is an important figure on the hard-left and is Jon Lansman’s protege.

Imagine the reaction if a leading Kipper had said that about a Labour politician who was believed to be fighting for their life… [more…]

Movers and Groovers : Samantha Giles to join McCann Worldgroup as EVP, Global Business Leader on Nestle

McCann Worldgroup has announced the appointment of Samantha Giles as EVP, Global Business Leader on the agency’s global Nestle business. She joins from Ogilvy & Mather where she has been Worldwide Managing Partner.

Giles, who will remain based in London, will succeed Julian Ingram who has headed the Nestle business for the past two years, extending the agency’s relationship with Nestle into additional areas. Ingram will be moving into a new role within the company.

Research Study : “Bricks and mortar shopping under threat”

A global research study conducted by brand experience agency Momentum Worldwide and their shopper marketing design consultancy ChaseDesign has found that 84% of the UK now use mobile apps to purchase goods.

However, the results highlight a large gap in the customer’s retail journey with only 1% of UK shoppers using a shop’s mobile app whilst in store.  The WE KNOW MODERN SHOPPERS study found that 90% of the UK believes that mobile apps enhance their shopping experience and the main benefits of using a store’s app is for time saving (88%) and cost saving (80%). These figures show that consumers want to purchase items quickly and for the best possible price, but the in-store experience isn’t allowing them to do so.

Movers and Groovers : Momentum creative director joins Toucan

Independent agency Toucan has appointed Kevin Frost, formerly Group Creative Director at Momentum London. Frost has over 25 years experience within network and boutique agencies including Arc/Leo Burnett, FCB, LoweOpen and most recently Momentum London.

He was one of the founding partners of MullenLowe Open (formerly LoweOpen) where he was responsible for building the creative department and winning new clients such as Morrisons and SC Johnson. Within his time at FCB he established and built the shopper proposition across the Beiersdorf business within the UK and Northern Europe, along with launching the new look Lloyds Pharmacy European network and roll out.
