Elevation Networks became an official Delivery Partner for the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills' Start-Up Loans initiative in early 2013. Over the coming months Elevation Networks will aim to distribute up to £1 million worth of loans to more than 350 young people that need capital to start or grow a new business.

They will be given access to a mentor, monthly training, and a number of other benefits through the initiatives Global Partners (including Ebay and PayPal). [more…]

Iceland introduces online shopping service

Iceland Foods has announced it is to trial an online shopping service in selected locations across the UK.

The new system will be an extension of its already popular home delivery service, which is currently free for those spending £25 or more in store. The same spend will be required for those trying its new online option, and will allow shoppers to make orders up to 10pm to qualify for free next day delivery. [more…]

Ovum comments: PayPal expands ‘PayPal Here’ to Europe / Eden Zoller

PayPal says the swipe based version of 'PayPal Here' has been well received in the US, and it makes sense for it to develop a chip and pin version that can be pitched in Europe and other markets that use this technology.

According to Eden Zoller, principal analyst at Ovum, “The UK is the logical place to start as it is PayPal’s second biggest market outside of the US with some 18 million active users.

“First mobile couponing that operates right across retail” / Sam Blunt, Kellogg’s UK

Shopitize has begun piloting a mobile couponing app that lets British shoppers get cash back on their Jaffa Cakes and Coco Pops.

The firm has signed up Kellogg's and United Biscuits for a thousand-strong pilot of its couponing service this month, enabling participants to receive up to 50% off on items including McVities Jaffa Cakes, Special K and Pringles.Users who download the Shopitize iPhone or Android app and buy featured products take photos of their paper shopping receipts, which are then automatically processed and validated, with cashback returned either by PayPal or old-fashioned cheque.
