Twitter character limit extended … what will this mean for promotions? / PromoVeritas

Twitter handles won’t count: Names that would have previously been included at the start of a reply won’t affect the word limit so you could potentially tweet groups of entrants and tag a brand in Retweets. 

You can retweet yourself: Promoters will be able to retweet and quote their tweets themselves so a previously unnoticed promotional tweet could be ‘rebroadcast’ easily and gain more traction.

Research shows that worldwide, car crashes are the leading cause of death among young people, with a higher proportion of 18- to 24-year-olds dying on the roads than at any other time of year.

In Europe, 18- to 24-year-olds account for 8 per cent of the total population, but 15 per cent of all those killed in road accidents.  In the summertime, the problem gets worse as 18- to 24-year-olds account for 21 per cent of all deaths on the road in summer. [more…]

  • A Harvey Nichols campaign showing women about to kiss their mirror image has escaped censure after drawing complaints that it was sexually explicit and offensive on religious grounds.
  • Harvey Nichols pointed out that the ads did not depict a lesbian kiss but rather a woman kissing herself, which was also made clear by the text.
  • It added that it did not believe that an image of the same person, or of two people, on the brink of kissing could be regarded as sexually explicit and therefore capable of causing widespread offence.

The Government has accused Argentina of being insensitive and disrespectful after it broadcast a television advert showing an Olympic hopeful training on a British war memorial in the Falklands.
