Customer generation business, Lead Tech to create 70 new jobs following move

Lead Tech, the ambitious customer generation business, today announced plans to create 70 new jobs in West Yorkshire and grow turnover to £16m as it completed a move to bespoke offices in Wharfedale.

Based in Otley since it was founded in 2008, Lead Tech has decamped to new, prestigious premises close-by at the Pool Business Park, Pool-in-Wharfedale.

Lead Tech works with financial services companies, like RBS, Metro Bank, Hitachi, Tilney Bestinvest, Aldermore and St James Place, connecting them with new customers using a combination of digital marketing, innovative technology and human interaction.

Natwest and RBS have announced the nationwide roll-out of Cashback Plus, which is being billed as the UK’s first debit-card linked loyalty scheme.

Cashback Plus enables the two banks' 12 million customers to earn at least 1% of their spend back on qualifying purchases in BP, Cineworld, Caffé Nero and 9 other high street retailers, with more slated to join the scheme in the near future. [more…]

ASA warns RBS over marketing emails

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has warned RBS about sending marketing emails to customers who have unsubscribed from the service.

A NatWest customer complained to the ASA after receiving two emails in May promoting the CashbackPlus scheme, querying the bank’s permission to pass on her details to a third party.

Paul Simons writes .. When I saw the news Tesco had appointed Wieden & Kennedy to handle their £110m ad account my first reaction was ‘interesting and surprising decision’.

The smart money would have been on Tesco hiring one of the big players and not an agency renowned for its outstanding creative output – Honda, Nike, etc. The reason being: the day-to-day work for any big retailer is fast-turnaround, tactical advertising; which is not in the DNA of W&K. [more…]
