Hot weather drives strongest April to May growth in 10 years

The IMRG Capgemini eRetail Sales Index has revealed online sales growth of 17% year-on-year (YoY) in May, the highest growth rate witnessed since June 2015. The positive results suggest that the arrival of the hot weather had a more significant influence on shopper spend than uncertainty around the outcome of the impending EU referendum.

With an exceedingly strong performance for e-retail in May, the Index also recorded its highest month-on-month (MoM) growth rate between April and May for over 10 years. An increase in the average basket value – from £78 year-to-date in 2015, to £81 year-to-date in 2016* - was also realised. [more…]

Mobile penetration falls for first time this decade / IMRG Capgemini Quarterly Benchmark

The percentage of online retail sales made through mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) fell in Q1 2016*, according to the latest results from the IMRG Capgemini Quarterly Benchmark – the first time a decrease has been recorded since tracking started in 2010.

Just under half (49.6%) of online retail sales were completed through mobile devices during Q1 2016, compared with 51.3% in the previous quarter. There was also a slight fall in the percentage of visits to online retail sites through mobile devices – at 64.6% in Q1 2016, down from 65.6% in Q4 2015.

New research reveals consumers value the physical experience over online

Shoppers remain unsold on buying online without having seen products physically, especially when it comes to big ticket and personal items like shoes.

According to new research from business intelligence research consultancy Future Thinking, although just under half of UK consumers (42%) buy online as a matter of course, we’re more likely to buy tablets and computers without having checked them out in a physical store than we are what we wear or use domestically.

Primesight’s digital 6 sheets will host the ‘BackInYourBox’ campaign in the top ten most popular cinemas in the UK alongside static six sheet panels located in 304 cinemas nationwide. The digital creative features a touch screen game based on the well known arcade hit ‘Whac-A-Mole’, allowing players to tap the colourful characters on screen emerging from the boxes with the aim of achieving a high score.
