Exclusive : How will electric cars impact future car sales?

Electric cars are all the rage right now, in particular in the European car market. In the UK, the government has announced that it will ban the sale of petrol and diesel cars by 2040,>>>> and this idea is mirrored across the EU. So, it should come as no surprise that European car manufacturers have grown wise to this trend with a wave of electric cars coming to market over the past decade. In an even bolder statement, Volvo have announced they will cease making conventional petrol and diesel cars beyond 2019.  

All of this points to a clear shift in the motor industry, a shift that is particularly pronounced in Europe. In this article, I want to take a look at what such a shift means for car sales.

The campaign, centred on a 15-minute film called ‘The 3 Million Mile Journey’ set in the heart of New York, showcases the fascinating journey that Irv Gordon has taken over the last 50 years.

Back in 1966, now retired science teacher, Irv Gordon bought a brand new Volvo P1800S. Since then, he’s travelled the equivalent of to the moon and back six times, having only ever used Castrol oil to lubricate his engine.

Video : Every year in the UK more than 19,000 cyclists are involved in accidents

In an attempt to make cycling safer, Volvo and its ad agency, Grey London, have joined up with the Swedish start-up @Albedo100UK to release a spray paint that makes surfaces glow in the glare of headlights.

The spray is being given away in cycle shops in London and Kent and could be sold globally if the trial is successful.

Four of its senior members Sara Cremer, Nicki Hill, Paul Kurzeja and Clare Hersey have been promoted, and a new digital services team has been established to strengthen online strategy.
