Research : Brits spend £1.46 billion a month via mobile payments

New research from VoucherCodes.co.uk has found that Brits are spending, on average, £36.76 of their monthly disposable income via their mobile devices. This equates to a huge £1.46 billion spent using mobile technology in the UK every month*.

The digitally savvy younger generations are leading the charge in mobile payment adoption, with those aged 18 to 24 spending £67.59 of their monthly disposable income via their mobile devices compared to just £16.89 amongst those aged 55 and over. Currently, men are over twice as likely as women to shop using mobile payments in store (12% vs 5%).

Sensewhere secures £1.4m funding to develop next generation indoor positioning

Sensewhere, a leading provider of indoor positioning solutions, has been awarded £1.4m by Scottish Enterprise to create jobs and further develop its disruptive location software.

sensewhere is pioneering the creation of software that offers universal location and navigation data in dense urban areas including shopping centres and airports, where GPS and other global navigation satellite systems are blocked.

The grant will open up seven new highly skilled jobs at the company’s headquarters in Edinburgh and create job security for those already employed.
