UK consumers use only four mobile apps regularly, new research reveals

UK consumers use only four mobile apps regularly, according to new research by user experience agency Webcredible. The apps used most frequently are for useful, practical purposes such as journey planning, searching for locations, booking tickets or finding voucher deals. The most successful apps were those that had become part of a user’s daily routine.

40% of people taking part in the research had used location-sensitive apps from their phones to find the nearest hotel or coffee shop, while the study also found that 90% used their phones to get quick, necessary shopping tasks done when they were commuting.

Free O2 Wifi tempts consumers with Wall’s Ice Cream

From today tourists, visitors and Londoners alike who are enjoying free O2 Wifi in some of the busiest parts of London will see Unilever’s first ever sponsorship of the landing pages. As the temperature rises and the crowds congregate in London Unilever brand Wall’s Ice Cream is sponsoring O2 Wifi Metro for the month of August. 

Unilever has partnered with O2 Wifi and O2 Media to bring the Wall’s ‘Love Ice Cream’ campaign to the busiest streets of London. The collaboration sees iconic Wall’s brands including Magnum and Cornetto owning all media placements on the wifi welcome pages on the streets of London.

Amazon UK was the most visible brown goods advertiser online whilst Apple remained the most visible website for brown goods-related searches, reveals the latest research from leading independent digital marketing agency, Greenlight.

Greenlight’s ‘Brown Goods Sector Report - Issue 12’ assessed which brands, retailers and review sites were the most visible in both Natural Search* and Paid Media** results and therefore had the greatest share of consideration when UK consumers searched on Google UK for Audio & Accessories, Cameras & Camcorders, PCs & Laptops, Phones & Accessories and TVs & DVD Players. The report also highlights those brands that interacted well on Social Media Networks.

Events : Adult Expo denied entry

The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) has been accused of being conservative in its selection of staged events, after it declined the request of the upcoming Asia Adult Expo for the second time.

Now in its fifth year, the fair uniting buyers and sellers of the adult product industry with an over-18 entry policy was not approved to be staged at the state-owned venue in 2011.

Event organiser Vertical Expo Services accused the venue of being afraid to host "adventurous" exhibitions, despite convention centre officials claiming the expo's application would be considered this year.

This year's fair will instead be staged with the first Intimate Lingerie Asia from 17-19 August at the same venue last year, the Cotai Strip Convention and Exhibition Centre at The Venetian Macao.
