The Student Room launches nationwide hunt for inspiring students

A nationwide search for the UK’s most inspirational students has begun as The Student Room (TSR), the world’s largest online student community, celebrates its 1 millionth member.

A variety of activities are planned to celebrate this landmark event in the site’s history, including the launch of one of The Student Room’s biggest ever competitions, the ‘Student in a Million’ awards, a nationwide search for the most inspiring student stories of 2012.

The Student in a Million awards aim to celebrate the unsung heroes of the student world by highlighting unique talent and raw determination. It is split across three categories: Greatest Achievement, Against All Odds and TSR Superstar.

Tesco and Summersault Communications team up to produce staff newspaper for the UK’s biggest private sector employer

Tesco has appointed Summersault Communications, one of the UK’s biggest employee engagement specialists, to produce its staff newspaper The One.

The contract was awarded following a competitive pitch and means that Summersault will take on Tesco’s existing monthly publication.

MAA to offer mentors in support of Government backed Start Up Loans Initiative

The Marketing Agencies Association today announced that it will be supporting the government backed Start Up Loans initiative, by offering creative directors and planning directors as mentors from its 80-plus strong agency membership.  A number of agencies have already offered to provide mentors including WDMP, Pulse, The Marketing Store, RPM and Iris.

Aspiring advertising creatives will today pitch their ideas to a panel of industry heavyweights, following an intensive two-week bootcamp from advertising giant M&C Saatchi.

Folkestone is hosting a national first as a one-of-a-kind ‘pop up’ agency sees the great and good of advertising lend inspiration, training and support to young hopefuls, in a two-week crash aimed at setting them on course for success in the creative communications industry.

‘The Lab’ provides expert tuition to twelve 18 to 24 year olds, handpicked from a large crop of hopeful applicants on the strength of their answers to several questions designed to illustrate their creativethinking. Participants hail from Folkestone and beyond and range from artists, aspiring actors and photographers and creative graduates.
