BT and Channel 4 showcase top Paralympic athletes

BT, the official communication services partner for London 2012, and Channel 4, the official broadcaster of the London 2012 Paralympic Games is producing a second series of short form films following the success of the first series last year.

The new series films the athletes in their final preparations for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. They will be getting ready for biggest event of their lives with the added pressure owing to a home Games. The films revolve around a day and night theme and will be shot in various locations around London including beside The Thames and Trafalgar Square.

BT and Channel 4 have commissioned Boomerang again to make the films which will feature BT’s athlete ambassadors. BT ambassadors include Paralympic Gold and Silver medal-winning swimmer Liz Johnson, nine-times Paralympic Gold medal dressage champion Lee Pearson, Paralympic Gold medal winner and record-breaking sprinter Oscar Pistorius and world record-holding javelin champion Nathan Stephens.

The second series of short-form films will air in Channel 4 peak time slots from Monday 21stMay. Once the films have premiered they will then be shown across the Channel 4 schedule and more4 schedules as well as on www.paralympics.channel4.com.

Channel 4 wants to help build the excitement of the nation for this home Games by showcasing the athletes in their final preparations right in the heart of the city.”

The short films form part of BT’s sponsorship of Paralympic sport on Channel 4. The sponsorship includes a variety of programmes broadcast across the Channel 4 network leading up to the London 2012 Paralympic Games as well as the live coverage and highlights shows broadcast during the Games themselves. This ground-breaking dual sponsorship also includes sponsorship of Channel 4’s website dedicated to the Paralympic Games, www.channel4.com/paralympics, programming on PC and TV VOD as well the joint creation of this short form programming content.
