How to market your beauty business

Running any beauty business can be challenging; whilst you may be very knowledgeable and
experienced in performing beauty treatments, marketing may be something you’re new to. Here are
some top tips on how you can market your beauty business:

Social Media

Social media is key for any beauty business’ marketing strategy. It is what many clients use to look
for new salons, new services, and inspiration. Be sure to set up business profiles across various social
media platforms. Do some research into what social media channels your clients are currently using
and go from there.

With social media, consistency is key. Make sure that you are posting regularly and be realistic about
how often you are able to post. It isn’t useful to start by posting 3 times a day if within two weeks
you aren’t posting at all. Posting 3 times a week is a good starting point and aim to be posting daily
once you are in the swing of things. If you are going to be in charge of posting, consider using a
scheduling tool and bulk planning content in advance to help with consistency.

In terms of the posts you are going to share, it is advised to post a wide range of content. You should
have different content pillars and work on posting a variety of all of them. Some content pillars that
would work well for a beauty business include:
Informative – informative content should provide existing and future clients with key information
about your business. For example, opening times, location, and price list. It is also good to showcase
what services you offer, and any complementary products you sell such as tan accelerators or cuticle
oils, so clients are aware of exactly what is available to them.
Educational – educational content is great for a beauty business as it allows you to teach clients how
to properly take care after receiving treatment. For example, why not film a reel showing clients how
to look after eyelash extensions?
Inspirational – when looking for a new beauty salon, clients are going to want to feel inspired. An
effective way to achieve this is by posting before and after pictures to demonstrate the impacts that
your treatments have had.

Website

As well as using social media, it is equally as important to have an up-to-date, user-friendly website
available for clients to access.
Despite its popularity, chances are you will have some clients that
don’t use social media. For this reason, you need to have a website that clearly displays all
information any prospective clients may need.

Websites are also great places to house long-form content, for example, blog posts on new beauty
treatments or longer videos demonstrating how certain treatments are performed.
Websites are also useful if you ever have any job vacancies to post.

Email marketing

Email marketing is an effective way to build long-lasting relationships with clients and increase
repeat customers. It is important that you have clients’ permission before adding them to any email
lists in order to stay GDPR compliant.

Once you have built up a list of client emails, you can then begin emailing them with special offers
and promotions, as well as letting them know any business news or changes.
