When you’re on a break at work, this is your time to relax, right? But, there are so many people who don’t do this because there is so much that needs to be done. Your brain doesn’t switch off when it’s supposed to because there are still so many things to think about, and that’s not fair.
While you’re on your break, you need to take that time to reset and hopefully feel much better by the time you get back to doing your job. If you don’t do this, your productivity levels can decrease throughout the day, which could put you on your boss’ watchlist. This is not a place that you want to be, and that’s why we’ve written this article. Down below, we’re going to be taking a quick look at some of the things that you can do in order to reset during your break at work. Interested? Read on.
Take A Little Walk Around
When you’re at work and it’s time for your break, how often do you get up and walk around? How often do you do anything that doesn’t involve sitting at your desk and either looking at reports to try and catch up, or doing something that doesn’t really take your mind off of anything work related? We bet that the answer isn’t a lot of the time, and that’s a problem in itself.
So, one of the things that you can try is getting up and taking a walk! We know that sometimes this can feel like the most difficult thing in the world, especially when you’re tired, but it’s much better for you than sitting in that chair all day. Did you know that there have been studies that have shown that too much sitting is linked to weight gain and poor overall health? Not only that, but it’s not good for your brain to be stuck here all day, when there is so much more that you can do. Getting out for a walk will take your mind off of everything else, as there will be new things for you to think about while you’re out and about.
Grab A Book And Read A Chapter
It’s also a good idea to take a book to work and read a chapter or two while you are on your break. Not only does this help you switch off from work for a little while, it also provides you with somewhere else to be, somewhere that you love to be – inside of your book. A lot of people are worried about doing this because they feel the break from their usual workday will not help them, but we can assure you that you will likely find it easier to get back into work with a fresh mind.
Play A Quick Game Of Something
Another way to reset during the day is to play a quick game of something that you know you enjoy. Gaming doesn’t always have to be done during your free time or as a hobby, you can also do it during the workday to refocus your mind. This could be on your phone, on your PC, or even with a pack of cards if you have them laying around. You might enjoy games like solitaire or hearts, these can be played rather quickly on an easy level so you won’t have to worry about wasting time.
Practice A Little Mindfulness
Lastly, it is important that you practice breathing techniques when it comes to stress levels and remaining productive. Mindfulness is essential for productivity and sometimes it can run away with you and your mind can wander. If you find this happening then take five minutes to yourself, find a quiet space and simply focus. If you are stressed or anxious then try breathing techniques, you can find guides and videos online, you could follow along to these until you are a seasoned pro.
Some people play music when they are practicing mindfulness and others just like to sit in silence. Find what works for you and enjoy your tranquility.

It is essential you stay productive, especially if you have children to look after or busy work life to deal with. The days are long and you may find that you often crash around lunchtime.
