Campers could be welcomed at Windsor Great Park during the Olympic Games

One thousand campers could be welcomed at Windsor Great Park during the Olympic Games.

The Crown Estate has signed an agreement with The Camping and Caravanning Club to operate a Windsor Great Park campsite from Friday, July 20 to Thursday, August 16 and 286 tent pitches are being made available.

Olympic rowing and canoeing events will be taking place at Dorney Lake from Saturday, July 28 to Saturday, August 11, and the £40 per night pitches, adjacent to Queen Victoria’s Review Ground, are likely to be a popular choice for tourists.

Philip Everett, deputy ranger at Windsor Great Park, said: “The Crown Estate is delighted to be working with The Camping and Caravanning Club to help provide this unique campsite in Windsor Great Park. Not only is it close to the Olympic events at Eton Dorney Lake, but it is the ideal base from which to explore this fantastic area.
