Screenmedia expo 2012 is kicking off this Wednesday 16th May in London

Businesses are still trying to catch-up with the consumer demand to better connect with brands, and the Screenmedia expo 2012 kicking off this week in London is hoping to help them do just that.
The two-day event, May Wednesday16 and Thursday17, includes educational sessions for those looking to deploy digital signage and kiosks, an awards ceremony and an exhibitor’s hall, where some of the industry’s biggest players will demo new products.

Sessions will include info and real-world case studies to help deployers understand a plethora of topics ranging from succeeding in the multiscreen digital world with mobile and how online, mobile and social media are changing the in-store digital experience — to staying connected with mobile customers and how shopping habits are changing.

Augmented reality and interactive and multitouch technology will also be up for discussion, along with information about how retailers can best use a “Smart screen,” one that uses information to optimize its message, create an engaging visual offering and deliver value to audiences, to collect data.

LoveContent Awards

The secnd annual LoveContent Awards Ceremony, celebrating the best of digital out-of-home creative, are May 16. Over the last 12 months, the digital landscape has grown exponentially, and more original campaign media has been created for more digital formats than ever before, according to an expo press release.

A variety of manufacturers will be in London showing their newest products. Below is a brief overview of just a few.

Bouncepad, developer of the Bouncepad tablet solution allowing businesses to display digital content in a novel and engaging manner, is launching its new Floorstanding model that it says combines elegant and robust design with enhanced mobility due to its freestanding nature.

Digital signage solutions provider BrightSign is set to exhibit its new BrightSign HD solid‐state digital signage controllers for the first time, at its joint booth with Pixels at Screenmedia Expo. Also at the stand will be demos of touchscreen wayfinding, portable tabletop display technology, a QSR menu board featuring Live Text, video wall synchronization, BrightAuthor presentation creation software, BrightSign Network publishing and management software, as well as the new BrightSign Network Web UI.

Christie will provide a configuration of 35 MicroTiles that can be triggered by using a mobile device as a remote control. Through a new QR code application, a person in front of the Christie wall can determine which pre-configured content clip showing digital communication solutions for various industries will playback on the MicroTiles.

Eyetease Media will unveil its new iTaxitop 2.0, showcasing the digital taxitop advertising solution on top of two of the world’s most iconic taxis — the London and New York City taxicabs. Designed to function on all vehicle types, in all weather and ambient light conditions, the iTaxitop integrates high-brightness screen technology and wireless/GPS connectivity, along with vibration management, power management and thermal management systems, and the ability to schedule advertisements remotely by time and location.

HP is featuring ts HP SignagePlayer mp8200s that comes pre-installed with a full version of the Scala Player, which provides flexibility to be used as part of a Scala-based digital signage network.

Mdina Media will launch its S8000 Nano-ITX (16 x 16 x 2 cm high) with an AMD Fusion 1.6 Dual Core and HD6310 graphic card, and E3000, which is Nano-sized with AMD 785E chipset, Dual Core and low power consumption. The players have a five-year roadmap, run 24/7 and Nano-ITX form factors. The players can be placed behind screens.

The full line of ultra-high reliability player PC’s from mediaVue will be at the expo, where the company will also showcase the SureVue D4 for video walls, digital menu boards or any deployment with multiple screens per location. The SureVueD4 supports four independent outputs at 1080p all running real HD content – multiple videos, crawls, and feeds at a per-screen cost less than an Atom-based system. SureVues are deployed in more than 40 countries.

PSCo Technical Distribution is showcasing the newly-released NEC X463UN videowall solution at this year’s Expo, controlled using Matrox’s Mura videowall cards to enable each screen to run at native HD resolution. The X463UN is the newest addition to NEC’s public display products, with a direct LED backlight and 1920×1080 resolution. This product also has additional beneficial features, such as its heat management monitor and control to reduce total cost of ownership. PSCo’s bracket solution and complementary services make installations quick and efficient, and NEC’s videowall solutions are already installed in a number of flagship locations including the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, M & M world, HSBC Westfield Stratford, Black Rock and Harrods.

Scala will demo its new new interactive screen communication solution that can be managed through a variety of mobile devices, including a smartphone, Apple iPad or tablet, using QR code technology. The solution enables organizations to connect to individuals with micro-targeted messaging, Tom Nix, Scala CEO, said in a company press release.

“By combining digital signage with complementary technologies and media, like mobile devices and social media, our customers can deliver personalized experiences that communicate the right message at the right time,” he said.

Sharp Electronics is showcasing its new new 70-inch PNE702 digital signage display, 60-inch PNV602H high-brightness video wall panels and the PN-L702B highly sensitive touchscreen.

Signagelive, a global provider of cloud-based digital signage solutions, will be demonstrating its cloud-based digital signage service, and will be showing its “much-celebrated” DOOHLoo, a waterless urinal from MOOH Group that incorporates at the top of the urinal an IAdea 7-inch SMIL LCD screen device powered by the Signagelive Virtual Player.

Step4Media’s TelemediaVision, a turnkey digital menu board solution, will also be at the expo. The database-driven product enables partners to create and manage dynamic digital menu boards without the need for programming. TelemediaVision includes a user-friendly content management system, can be hosted on Scala servers and is available in a SaaS solution.

U-Touch will showcase its 93-inch Interactive Video Wall, which delivers multitouch by allowing multiple users to interact and collaborate with content on the screens simultaneously. This solution is aimed at use in a boardroom, reception area or as a central display. Fitted with U-Touch’s six point technology, it has safety glass and anti-reflective coating across the whole video wall. U-Touch will also show a 46-inch screen in portrait, bringing interactivity to digital signage.

Westbase will demonstrate what it says is the industry’s first media appliance to support the HTML5 open content standard from IAdea, which allows content production effort to be shared between websites, mobile devices and digital signage. This technology enables interactivity between mobile devices and the big screen.
