Living The Healthiest Life While Working A Desk Based Career

If you work a desk based career, but you want to ensure that you are living the healthiest possible life, you do not have to compromise on this. We know that there are a lot of people who feel as though this is necessary, but we can promise you that it is not. You don’t have to leave your health in the rearview mirror simply because you spend most of your day at a desk, and it’s time to leave this belief in the past.

Instead, the most important thing is that we begin to educate ourselves on how to maintain our health, even when this is our norm. Stop letting excuses stop you from being the very best version of yourself, and start making better choices instead. But, how can you do this, and what should you be doing? Good questions, let’s answer them.

Watch Your Diet

The first thing that we’re going to suggest is going to be absolutely no surprise to you, nor should it be. We’re going to recommend that you start by looking at your diet. Your diet is one of the most important things in your life, and it is a huge decider when it comes to your health. If you’re consuming too much or too little, you’re not getting the right nutrients, you’re not generally giving your body what it needs, then you’re going to struggle with your health.

You need to remember that what you put into your body is what is fueling it, and nothing can run on empty, nor can it run if it’s full of the wrong thing. So, you need to start working on your diet a little more. Try ensuring that you’re getting the right amount of protein, fiber and nutrients per day to ensure that you’re satisfied, and that your body is in the best possible condition.

Get Up Regularly

We should not really be sitting down all day. If this is what your job entails, then we recommend you get up fairly regularly. Every half an hour, or every hour if you want, you should be getting up and moving around a little. Sitting for too long in the same position is bad for your joints and your body overall, so you want to make sure you’re getting that little bit of movement in.

While it isn’t much, you’re not letting your body become too idle, and you’re not just allowing yourself to deteriorate. If you do, you will notice that you’re losing strength in your muscles, and general tasks are becoming more of a challenge to complete. It starts small, and then one day getting out of your chair just feels like the most difficult thing in the world because you have no strength.

See A Doctor

It’s worth seeing a doctor if you need some more advice on how you can live a healthier life. It might help to discuss with them the way that you live right now, and then they have all of the information that they need to provide you with accurate advice. For example, the advice for someone who is active and otherwise healthy is going to differ from that for someone who has a preexisting health condition and is limited in what they can do.

Seeing a doctor shows that you are taking this seriously, and that you want to make some changes. Depending on your main health concerns at the moment, they may make some recommendations for medication, but again this depends on the state of your health when you see them. Oftentimes people don’t even know that certain symptoms are symptoms of a wider issue, but you can discuss all of this with your doctor.

If You’re In The Office

If you’re in the office all of the time, and you feel like you never have time to go anywhere else, you can look into putting measures in place to protect your health. For example, you can look into ergonomic furniture to meet your needs better, and then request that these are put into the office. This could include things like special chairs, adapted desks, and other modifications that reduce the risk of injury.

While we don’t often consider issues you can get from being in an office and typing all day, they are very real issues. Things like repetitive strain injury (RSI) is a lot more common than people believe, and can be extremely painful, and in some cases irreversible. So, making reasonable adjustments should be something that your employers do for you, but you won’t get this if you don’t ask.

As we said, you can also walk around, bring your own lunch to avoid having to go out for food all of the time, and so much more to combat sitting on your backside all day.

Supplements And More

The final thing that we want to talk about are supplements and more. The more supplements that you take, the less balanced your diet is. Supplements are there for people who struggle to get enough of certain vitamins and nutrients, designed to balance what is not currently balanced. As such, they can be a helpful source of vitamins and nutrients, but you need to take them carefully, and you should probably consult a doctor before taking anything new if you have pre-existing conditions.

But, there are also more than supplements out there that are designed for specific purposes within the body. For example, things like enclomiphene capsules are designed for testosterone needs, and there are countless others like it. It’s a case of finding what you need, and making sure you get it.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that you should be looking into when it comes to living the healthiest life possible when working a desk based career. We know that it isn’t always easy, and we never said that it is, but you’ve got to find a way to do it anyway.
