The former Lida creative director Shaun Moran, the ex-Elvis managing partner Mike Cullis and the former CMW planning director Ben Rachel are teaming up to launch a direct marketing agency called Soul.

The founding trio open their doors for business in London’s Soho this week with the promise of “people first, channel second”.

The partners, who own an equal share in the start-up, have been plotting its launch since the beginning of the year and will work on projects for clients including Liberty, Licx and Superdrug.

Soul’s focus will be CRM, behavioural influence, content and strategy, but the agency’s founding principle is “creating relationships with customers”.

What they say…

Our name reflects our approach.

We’re a direct marketing agency for whom direct marketing is a way of thinking – not merely a channel.

We believe that marketing communication needs to achieve two things – engage people emotionally and influence their behaviour.

We’ve summed this up in two words – Moving People.

To Move People you need to understand them better. So we always use people as our starting point to determine the approach we take and channels we use.

We create communication that is integrated around people, letting them play a greater role in determining the right mix of channels and technology for them – rather than the other way round.

This people-focused approach to marketing means that we can make brand experiences personal, human and valuable. Creating genuine brand engagement and delivering winning communication strategies.

The result is creative work that is not only more insightful and compelling but also considerably more effective.
